I've become a bit obsessed with searching for items to add to a gallery wall in my apartment. We have this huge empty space over the couch and I think a gallery wall would be perfect there.
So i've been collecting and making random items to add to it and I've almost got enough to actually put it up. While my boyfriend is really nice about pretty much letting me do whatever I want as far as decorating goes I want to add in a few things that he can really appreciate. One of those things will be a framed outline of New York state (I made one of New Jersey too of course) but I wanted something else that he'd really love. Then yesterday I had the idea to frame the logo of his favorite team, the New York Rangers. However, instead of just framing the regular the logo, I decided to put it through a Photoshop filter to see if I could add a little style to it. The result I got was this:
The effect isn't crazy different because I still wanted it to look like the regular logo but when you get up close it's got a little bit of a stylized feel. I plan on printing it out and putting it into a matted frame to add to the wall as a surprise. The idea of stylizing a sports logo really appealed to me because part of the trouble of decorating with a guy's interests in mind is that they don't usually blend well with an interior. Sports especially usually have crazy bold fonts and bright colors which don't necessarily match my natural taste. This gives you a cool option to surprise your guy by representing what he loves in your home while still keeping with your overall vision for your decor. There are ton of cool Photoshop filters and it's literally the easiest thing you can do in Photoshop. Just open up your image, click on the Filter menu option at the top and then pick one. You can try out a bunch of different ones to see what look you like best, then just save and print. Here are some more logos I put through different filters to give you an idea of what you can do.
