I'm not gonna lie I'm in struggle city this morning. The weekend was too much fun and now all my body wants to do is sleep for the next 5 days. Hopefully the venti dark roast on my desk will help wake me up and get me through Monday.
As I mentioned last week I spent my Saturday touring wineries in Long Island and it was such a good time. We took a party bus out to North Fork and experienced a beautiful day of food, music and good wine.
We hit three wineries on our tour and I have to say I loved all three of them even though they were all pretty different. The first, Macari Winery was what I was expecting in the classic wine tasting sense. The vinyards were absolutely gorgeous, the store had a variety of gourmet snacks and various wine accessories, and we were walked through your typical tasting. It was definitely the most informative of the tours and we heard a lot about how the grapes were harvested and the wines were made.
Our second two stops were a little more laid back in the wine tour sense. Pugliese Winery was set up almost like a backyard BBQ with picnic tables, an outdoor bar and a live band. We received drink tickets that allowed us to try the different wines but there was no formal information session. The bartenders were knowledgeable about their product but you had to go out of your way to ask about what you were drinking.
Our last stop was probably my favorite. The set up at Baiting Hollow was larger and more upscale than Pugliese but it definitely had the laid back bar feel. There was a DJ, a big dance floor and lots of tables set up for larger parties. They also had a ton of cool stuff to buy including gorgeous sterling silver jewelry which I may or may not have purchased. All in all it was a good day. Enjoy the pictures below while I struggle to get through my Monday.
