I don't know about where you are but it is HOT in NYC. The humidity has been deadly the past couple days and it's giving me motivation to do absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, I don't have that luxury since I'm trying to get a million things done before being out of work and away next week.
One of the top things on my to-do list that I really don't want to do is packing. I'm very much your typical girl when it comes to packing - so I over pack like crazy. It drives my boyfriend crazy and my family always teases me about it but what can I say, you just never know what you might need. This trip will be a little extra challenging for me since I'm going from spending time at the Jersey Shore straight to upstate NY where the weather will be about 15 degrees cooler and according to weather.com a lot rainier. This means I basically need to go from bathing suits to jeans and layers since it's sure to be hot during the day and cool at night up there.
That being said I'm going to try my best not to go completely overboard when it comes to stuffing my Vera. I've been racking Pinterest and brainstorming outfits to try and bring as little with me as possible while still staying stylish all week. Here are a couple of tips I've come up with so far - just in case you're running into the same problem.

day to night.
Try and bring things that can work if you're lounging during the day or if you're out at night.
A pair of shoes and jewelry can really dress up a simply maxi or t-shirt dress
that you wore with flip flops in the earlier hours.

hot to cold.
Layering up is just as important in the summer as it is in the winter. Whether you're on the beach or in
the mountains the night air can get pretty chilly. Try packing outfits that can easily transition by throwing
on a sweater, a button up or a pair of jeans instead of shorts. Adding in one extra piece of clothing
can you give you a whole extra outfit.

go neutral
Shoes are one of the most space-consuming items you need to bring when going away.
Obviously you need something to go with every outfit so it's easy to go overboard when trying to pack them.
One of the ways I save space by limiting shoes is to go neutral. Bring one pair of nude wedges
or heeled sandals and one pair of flats. You'll be prepared for day or night
without taking up precious suitcase space.

versatility is key
If you're only spending half of your trip at the beach (like me) packing a ton of cover-ups
can seem like a waste. However, if done right they can be used again
for the second half of your vacation. Try going with a more structured
cover up like the ones above (I know they're both really
similar, sue me - I love stripes). You can easily pair these
with leggings or jeans to turn beach dress into tunic.

less is more
Take advantage of rompers while they're in ladies. This is a no fuss, sure fire outfit
every time and it's literally one piece of clothing. It'll take up almost no space in your bag
and can be worn to the club or while strolling in the sand.
