I'm not sure if you all heard but the fabulous Lauren Conrad showed her LC Lauren Conrad Runway Collection for Kohls during Fashion Week and it was amazing. I love how romantic and girly all her pieces are and the show came out pretty magical. Check out my favorite looks from her line below. Also, you can get a behind the scenes look at the show on her website and shop the looks at Kohls.
Sorry for the late post, I'm still super busy in the office. It's busy season in the HR office between training sessions, new hires and event planning so the next few weeks should be hectic but I'm super excited about all the fall and holiday posts I'll be doing in the next few months! This rainy day in NYC has reminded me that I need to stock up on some fall rain accessories. We tend to get a lot of rainy days in the autumn on the East Coast and as the weather gets colder they can get hard to deal with. My adorable rainy day picks below should help ease the bad weather blow. Winking Eye Umbrella // Kate Spade Chelsea Leopard Rain Boots // J Crew Classic Trench // Gap
I'm not sure if you've all heard but apparently flare jeans are back. Originally I wasn't sure how I felt about this development since I'm a huge fan of the skinny jean. While I don't think I'll go all-flare in my closet anytime soon, the most recent styles have convinced me to add at least one pair to my wardrobe. Check out my favorites below. 1969 resolution skinny flare jeans // Gap Flare High Jeans // H&M Flare Jeans in Dark Rinse // Loft MOTO Jamie Flared Jeans // Topshop
I hope you're all getting ready to enjoy the unofficial last week of summer. After LDW I plan on pushing full into fall mode, Pumpkin Spiced lattes and all. I love everything about fall fashion - the textures, layers and especially the colors. Dark purples and maroons are always around this time of year but burgundy specifically seems to be popping up all over the place. Check out the looks below for some fall beauty inspiration. haireyeslipsnailsWe're seriously nearing the end here people, the days are getting shorter and the leaves are starting to hit the ground. It's almost time to say farewell to summer. Though my favorite season is coming to an end I have to admit that there's something about fall that gets me excited. As a kid I actually liked going back to school. It was a fresh start, I got to see all my friends again and then there was the best part - back to school shopping. As an adult I've kept this tradition alive, even though I'm not actually going back to school. Luckily a lot of the same tools I needed in the classroom are necessary for work so now is a great time to stock up on the essentials. Looking for an excuse to do some shopping yourself? Here is a short list of "back to school" items that you can justify buying as an adult. Notepads for your desk are an essential if you work in an office and if you don't they're great at home too. Buy my favorite at the moment here. Everyone should have a planner. Maybe you prefer yours digitally but I'm a classic carry-around-the-book kind of a girl. Either way this is a good time of year to go through and clean up your calendar so you're prepped for the coming months. My planner pick here. I try to bring my lunch to work everyday to save the $50-$60 a week I would spend on eating out. If you're looking to save money this is a great place to start. To make it a little more fun get yourself a nice lunch bag. The one above looks like a classic brown paper bag but it's made of wax canvas and reusable (I'm obsessed). Buy your own here. The classic tote bag never goes out of style and it's super practical. I carry one to work everyday filled with everything a girl could need to get through the week. Buy here. I've also kept the tradition of buying "back to school" clothes alive.
Take advantage of the great sales going on now and update your fall wardrobe too! Before I get into today's post I just wanted to give you all an update on the Skinny Fettuccine Alfredo that I posted about the other day. Let's just say mine didn't didn't go over well. Actually it didn't get the chance to go over well because the oil and the flour immediately started to burn on medium heat. I don't know if my medium heat is too strong or my measuring skills weren't up to par but either way it didn't work out. However, I'm not giving up! I will try the recipe again when I'm a little less hungry and a little more patient. If any of you have tips on what I may have done wrong please leave them in the comments! Now, back to business. As you all know I'm currently living in a beautiful area of Brooklyn, which I love. However, I'm definitely a Jersey Girl through and through so I love to rep my home state whenever possible. Turns out, I'm not the only one. No matter where you live the trend of representing your home state is a huge one. See how to get on board below. West Elm // $32.00 Buy here. Etsy // $10.50 Buy here. The Home T // $30 Buy here. Etsy // $15.00 Buy here. And for those of you who want to represent without spending a lot of money, check out how to make your wall art with your home state. I've very slowly started to clean out my closet in the past few days so I can get ready to add to my fall wardrobe. I've been pulling out "summer" tops that I never actually wore this summer, jeans that no longer fit and tank tops with holes and adding them to the donation or garbage piles. It's not a fun job but it's necessary before I start adding more items to my closet for the cooler weather. It's also gotten me thinking about what I'll need to pack away when the summer's over and what I can transition into the fall with. Soooo here are my top items that you don't have to say goodbye to quite yet and how to wear them. Maxi dress/skirtMaxi's are one of the easiest things to transition into the colder weather because they're long so they already have a little built in warmth. Throw a pullover sweater or a jacket over the dress or add a long sleeve t-shirt or body suit to the skirt for a bohemian vibe this September. RompersI loveeee a good romper. They are so easy and completely adorable. Pair your favorite one with tights and a scarf or a cardigan and booties. It's all about mixing warm layers over lighter pieces when the weather is still in that unpredictable stage. White jeansAhh that old no-white-after-labor-day-rule. TBH I'm pretty sure most ladies I know ignore this rule these days anyway but if you're still unsure about carrying your white items through the fall just take a look at the two outfits above. White jeans can actually be carried all the way through winter if they're done right and cozy flannels and camel colored boots are the way to go.
I'm sure you're all aware of my love for Lauren Conrad and all her brands. I've been a fan of hers since her high school days on Laguna and now she definitely holds a top spot of inspiration for me when it comes to strong, successful women. Though I love all of Lauren's products her most admirable creation has definitely been the little market. Lauren and co-founder, Hannah Skvarla, started the little market to help women sell their products internationally and make a living for themselves. The result has been a successful business that brings beautiful creations into homes all over the world. Lauren and Hannah travel to explore the culture and products of the artisans they work with in order to bring amazing products to their brand. The items on the little market website are both gorgeous and affordable. I strongly recommend heading over to their website and checking out all the fantastic items you can buy. You'll get a fun shopping experience and better yet involve yourself in the global community Lauren and Hannah are trying to create. Help them combat poverty and empower women by exploring the unique fabric of the community they've started there.
I've decided to make my monthly ipsy glam bag contents a regular posting. Since I get to sample a bunch of new products I think it's only fair that I review them for you. This months goodies were just as exciting as last months and I'm happy to share them all with you. I have to say my initial reaction to the bag itself was not great. Houndstooth is a little too preppy, even for my taste and after the cool tribal print of July's bag I was a little disappointed. However, this is not the most important part of the delivery so I quickly moved onto to the contents. Here's a close up of the products I received: This month's bag focused a lot on replenishment. The eco-beauty good night, night cream and the Too Faced HangoveRx are both supposed to be great ways to make your skin look its best. I've tried both already and my skin feels softer and looks more radiant already. The Nourishing Argan Oil by Marc Anthony helps make your hair shinier and frizz free and smells absolutely delicious.
I was probably most excited about the eye liners. I'm always on the search for a good liquid black so getting this Starlooks Luxe Eyeliner pen was a nice surprise. I'm also superrrr excited to try the wine colored eye/lip liner pencil from Skone Cosmetics. I think I'm going to hold off until I transition into fall to try it out so I'll be sure to share a picture when I do. If you haven't signed up for your monthly glam bag yet you can check them out here. Right now is the time to sign up since there is currently no wait list. The monthly rush you get when you see that pink envelope in the mail is totally worth the $10.99 a month. I'm half sad and half excited about today's post. Even though the weather is still hot right now, the end of summer is definitely drawing near. Though I'm not looking forward to the dark evenings and freezing weather of winter I am pretty psyched about fall clothing. I, like most basic girls, love sweaters, boots and a peacoats. That being said I've obviously already started looking into updating my fall wardrobe. Luckily, since it's still pretty early there are a ton of great fall ready items on sale if you know where to look and I like to start at the factory stores. I found some great deals at two of my favorite factory stores and have already stocked up on some fall items. From flats to dresses and jackets, J Crew Factory has a great selection of fall styles. Plus, right now they have an extra 30% off regular items, an extra 40% off of clearance AND free shipping. My preppy inclinations also make Gap one of my favorite places to buy cozy pieces for fall and winter. I recently hit the jackpot in their clearance section and bought 7 sweaters for under $60 (!!). Check out their under $10 section for major steals and if you spend $50 your order ships for free.
